Umbrella Asset Management, LLC is an exempt reporting advisor "ERA" in California that specializes in the development of quant-based trading algorithms for fixed income and public equity investments. We market our funds via a conventional LP (limited partnership) to sophisticated high net-worth individuals that meets the definition of accredited investor by the SEC. We specialize in the development of sophisticated investments and trading strategies that rely on an computer algo to execute trades. Our strategies depend on a combination of leverage, institutional interest rate spreads, and quant-based algorithms for defining high probability scenarios. We then program parameters for exiting and entering trades to capture investment returns predictably. We then distribute those returns to our investors in our Limited Partnership entities. We will onboard clients who have an interest in investing into programmed execution of trades and will accept clients who meet the minimum requirements for a 506 (C) fund offering. Investors who want to proceed with an investment will need to fill out a client onboarding questionnaire confirming their accredited investor status while scheduling a phone call with the fund manager prior to making any investments into an LP fund managed by Umbrella Asset Management, LLC.
ABOUT The
Fund Manager
Alex Cho is the founding hedge fund manager for Umbrella Asset Management. He started the firm with the goal of providing unmatched performance by developing highly specialized trading algorithms using his unique quantitative methods and analysis. Alex Cho was originally a Financial Analyst for Seeking Alpha and The Motley Fool from 2011 to 2017. Alex Cho went onto launch his own private equity research firm from 2018 to 2021. Following that, Alex Cho went onto develop a technology start-up from his Hollywood Apartment called "Cleaner Alliance" in Los Angeles, CA (which is still an active technology company in the home service marketplace segment). While developing new technologies and writing programming code in python and java -- Alex Cho developed a new trading algorithm for executing trades which led to the launch of Umbrella Asset Management in 2025.
Alex Cho is best known in the financial industry as an analyst with a solid track record of success prior to making the transition to the buyside as a hedge fund manager. The fund manager originally published 687 analysis reports on Seeking Alpha from 2011 to 2017, and published various reports under Cho Research, and Fool.com, which he no longer contributes or publishes any research reports publicly under his author byline anymore. Alex Cho makes some public news media appearances on very rare occasion as an investment manager.
